A few last details!

1) Peggy Carter/Natasha Romanov - nominator, you input this under MCU but disambiguated it with Marvel TV. Which fandom did you want it in?

2) Guinan/Uhura - as far as we can tell, these two only appear in separate shows/movies, so this nomination has been approved in Crossover Fandom instead of in Star Trek TNG.

3) Impatience - nominator, this seems too broad to give a creator a clear idea; are the characters impatient to get some privacy, to get each other's clothes off, to get it in already...?

If we haven't heard back from nominators in 24 hours, we'll make our best guesses on 1 & 3 before we fling open the signup gates.

Tagset

Nominations are going well! We have a few questions/issues so far, as follows:

Crossovers: Crossovers should be nominated under "Crossover Fandom" (despite what the generic text on the AO3 tells you). We have moved a few crossover noms but if you nominate some and they're lingering, double-check what fandom you added them in.

Freeforms: Freeforms should be in some way related to sex! The following tags don't seem to quite fit the theme; do the nominators have suggestions for rephrasing to make the sexual connection more overt?
Didn’t Know They Were Dating
Found Family
giving up on being good and going to the bad side with the hottie who's been waiting there for them
Marriage of convenience that is actually really inconvenient
Oh No They’re Hot
Swordplay

Shadow & Bone (TV): The mods are not in this fandom; the wiki seems to suggest that "General Kirigan" is an alias for The Darkling and thus "General Kirigan/Alina Starkov" is a duplicate of "The Darkling | Aleksander Morozova/Alina Starkov." Are these actually different characters?

Star Wars: We received several nominations for Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi/Darth Vader in different subsets of Star Wars canon. As noted in the Nominations Guidelines Post, we are merging Star Wars subfandoms. We have accepted "Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker" into Star Wars Current Canon.

Tagset nominations are open! The tagset is here. You may nominate up to 10 fandoms, 20 relationships in each fandom, and 20 freeforms.

Guidelines:

For all nominations: Please include a disambiguation in your ship tags. This means adding the fandom name or an abbreviation of it to the end of the tag, e.g., "Haruno Sakura/Yamanaka Ino (Naruto)" -- this helps keep AO3's system from mis-assigning the tag to additional fandoms.

Please do not use AO3's "All Media Types" or "& Related Fandoms" tags as a general rule; nominate a specific media type (e.g., "Dragon Age (Comics)") or just the title you're interested in. If your fandom actually makes more sense using this tag format, please drop us a comment here and let us know what your fandom's situation is.

Piping: AO3 does this to include multiple names for a lot of characters, e.g., "Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian." If it's still clear who you mean without the piping/multiple names, feel free to leave them out! They can make tags hard to read and can make multi-person ships hard to fit in the character limit.

This exchange is for sexual content, so only / ships will be approved. You may nominate single characters with the prefix Solo:, eg., "Solo: Selphie Tilmitt (FF8)," if you want art or fic of a character enjoying themself alone. Conversely, you may include as many participants in a ship as you can fit in one tag.

Ability to Consent: This exchange assumes that teenagers are able to meaningfully consent to sex but prepubescent children are not. Ships featuring characters who have not reached puberty in their canon appearances will not be accepted.

You may nominate ships in the form of Canon Character/Original Character or Canon Character/Any, but please note that you cannot require that someone matching to you interpret them in a specific way: for example, if you nominate "Jean-Luc Picard/OMC (ST:TNG)," you cannot require a creator to make that character a Romulan with a tragic backstory; if you nominate a crossover of "Melanie King (Magnus Archives)/Any Female Character," you cannot limit which fandoms the other character may come from. You may suggest directions! But your creator is not bound by them.

All Original Work ships should be nominated under "Original Work." If you want specific genders for original work characters, please specify in the tag, e.g., "Female Werewolf/Male Human Jogger (OW)" or "Werewolf/Human Jogger (F/M) (O/W)". A noun that implies a gender ("king," "nun," etc.) does not need a gender designation unless you are specifying a gender other than that implied in the noun ("female king," "nonbinary nun," etc.).

This year we are also allowing Creator's Choice of Fandom; like with Original Work, nominate character types ("Mad Scientist/Most Successful Creation (CCOF)") and specify in the tag if you are looking for specific genders.

Freeforms: All freeforms should be in some way related to sex and all sex should be consensual. For example, "Rain" is not focused enough, but "Sex Outside in the Rain" is fine; "Trading Sex for Freedom" is too coercive for this challenge, but "Roleplay: Trading Sex for Freedom" is fine. Freeforms that do not meet this standard will be either queried or edited/deleted.

Specific Fandom Notes:

For Star Wars: Please nominate under Star Wars Current Canon for things currently part of the canon universe or Star Wars Legends Canon for things retconned out.

For Marvel and DC:
  • Movies: please nominate under MCU or DCEU respectively.

  • Comics: please nominate under Marvel 616 or DCU respectively if you are requesting anything in the main continuity. If you want to request an alternate continuity, please nominate it with the most appropriate name for that continuity; your mods would appreciate a heads up so we can keep track.

  • TV: please nominate under Marvel TV "Defenders TV (Marvel TV)" or DC's Arrowverse respectively. We realize this may flatten some distinctions and that where these titles fall can be messy. These rules are simplified to make it easier to manage the tagset.

  • Mass Effect: Please nominate Mass Effect Trilogy and Mass Effect Andromeda separately.
Dragon Age: Please nominate by media: Dragon Age (Video Games), Dragon Age (Comics), etc.

Final Fantasy VII: Please nominate under the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" tag for the original continuity and under the "Final Fantasy VII Remake (Video Game 2020)" tag for the new one.

Warhammer 40.000: Please use the umbrella "Warhammer 40.000" tag for both 30k/Horus Heresy and 40k eras.

If a ship contains several characters who all share the same gender (e.g., New Initiate Nun/Her Convent Sisters), nominate it under the relevant single-gender category. Good morning! Keep those noms coming, we're over 1800 ships in over 300 fandoms. Whew!

A few questions and notes as we continue:

    1) Le Fantôme de l'Opéra | Phantom of the Opera & Related Fandoms - Nominator, please pick a specific canon! Novel, musical, movie, something else...? If we don't hear from you by the time nominations close, we'll pick one.

    2) Soul Bond - We've been trying to make freeforms sex-related, and we had a previous nomination for "Sharing Pleasure via Mental Connection/Soulbond," so we changed this to "Soul Bond Formed Through Sex." If you'd like some other sex-and-soul-bonding trope, drop us a line and we'll add it. confirmed by nominator!

    2) Consensual [kink] - We've had a number of freeform noms that specify doing X kink consensually. For this exchange that is the default assumption! I have been mostly adding these without the "consensual" modifier, unless the kink is one where a person's ability to consent is often compromised (e.g., somnophilia) so reinforcing consent seemed important. If you've nominated a tag in the "consensual [kink]" format and it wasn't accepted, check for the unmodified version.

Nominations are ongoing and awesome! Keep 'em coming (right over here. We have a few questions at the moment:

    1) Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon | Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Nominator, do you have a specific version in mind?

    2) Freeforms: We have a few freeforms in limbo that seem too broad as they stand right now.

    - Aftermath. Does this refer to post-sex afterglow or to something else?

    - Domestic. We were unsure how this was intended. Cozy established relationship sex, domestic discipline, roleplaying domestic help...?

    - Role Reversal. We'd like to rephrase this to make it more specifically sexual. Were you looking for a situation where someone tops who usually bottoms, or someone who calls the shots in "real life" being submissive in bed, or some other reversal?

If one of these is your tag, please let us know how you'd like it handled! Otherwise we'll use our best judgment on how to approve them on August 17 at 4pm PDT (48 hours from this post).
